college

As of today, I have been living on campus at Ball State for two weeks. I have climbed more stairs than ever before in my life, I have walked more than the rest of my life, and I have gone through many other new experiences as well. If I had to sum up my thoughts on college in one word I would have to say exhausting. Between the seven flights of stairs I climb to my room at least ten times every day, and the far walk I have from Lafollette everywhere I go, to add all of the school work in on top of that is draining me of any energy I could potentially have. Then, move in two weeks ago was probably the worst experience of my life. My roommate, Brittany, and I brought everything we could possibly need. Which is great for when we need it, but moving it all into our small little dorm was probably very entertaining to our neighbors. I know it sounds horrible so far, but it really has been fun experiencing new things and also meeting so many new people.
Walking around campus has given me many opportunities to meet new people. Going to lunch with people you met or knew before is always a fun part of my day. I love having an open schedule so that I can go to lunch when I want and with who I want. Not being in school from eight am until three pm is a wonderful thing in my eyes. I have time to study between my classes and after, and I also have time for a part-time job whenever I decide I’m going to get one. I love meeting new people and a new school is always a good place to do that. My dad has always told me “college will be the best years of your life,” so I am tremendously excited about the years that lie ahead of me.

  1. Girl I know how you feel about those 7 flights of stairs. I always hope that climbing all those steps will burn off my meal I just ate, but so far I see no results. But I'm gad you're college experience is going so well and it sounds like you're have the time of your life. I hope your school work load gets easier, which I'm sure it will in time. And I can't wait to hang out with you Brittany and Chelsea and I will be down often to visit :)

  2. I'm sure all freshmen can relate. The walk from Lafollete is very tiring. I would disagree with you about having time in between classes because I am very unorganized. I usually wake up and go to classes without thinking of the time between them. I will sometimes have homework that can only be done on my laptop, so I usually forget to bring mine, which results in having to walk back to my room more than I should have to. I'm lazy.

  3. I pretty much agree with everything that you said. College has already been one of the best things that i have ever experienced. I have already met so many awesome people that i know i will be friends with for a long time, and it is only the second week of classes! It is so different than high school and it was so hard to get used to not being in school for eitght hours straight, and i love it. i cannot wait for the rest of the school year!!!

  4. I completely agree that living in Lafollette is very tiring. The walks are awful, almost inconvenient. As an athlete here, there are a lot of meetings, workouts, and practices that we have to go to that cut into our time but study tables are making sure that i hit the books. I can relate to the moving part. When my roommate and i moved in, it was almost a spectacle with us carring our wooden lofts. Also in complete agreement with with can't wait to see what these next four years bring.

  5. I would also like to agree with the living in Lafolltte is very tiring experience. One thing I hate the most about living in the dorms though is swiping your I.D. card every time you try to enter the dorms. I know it's for safety purposes, but it just wears on you mentally. I'm sick of taking my card out every time I enter the building. The sad thing is that it's only week number 2. Looks like I have a long year for the dorms!!

  7. I know exactly what your sayin with all the walking. That's why I always have to ask you what we are doing in class. I can't hear the teacher cause im always breathing so hard. Which is kind of bad because you have to walk down more stairs than me too.
