When someone one refers home, I no longer know whether they are talking about their home they came from, or their dorm. I have not yet begun calling my dorm home, but by the end of the year I hope that will have changed. I actually was able to go home this weekend, and it was really nice to see everyone. My dad was home with his girlfriend and my grandma and grandpa were also there. The food was just what I needed to feel right at home again, and the company was a nice change from the almost-awkward new friendships I had been chatting with. I was so excited to go home and see what friends were left and just be in my home town with my car again, but by the end of the weekend, I missed my roommate and I missed being here at Ball State.
The car ride back was amazing. It was Brittany, Jimmy, and I, and we listened to music, people watched in other cars, and just laughed and laughed. We had all missed being around each other, and it was just an all around fun trip. I don’t believe that I will be going home again anytime soon, but I do know that my mom needs me to go visit her, so maybe it will be another good experience.

It sounds like you had an amazing weekend. I went home to and loved being around my family and seeing old friends, but in the end I did start to feel dorm sick. I missed all my dorm girls, and amazingly sleeping in my bed. Ball State is my true home now and I hope it will feel like that to you soon. I hope you have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteI still refer to my house where I used to live to my home. Mostly because I left all my best friends there. I am making new ones though so that's good. I love it here at Ball State!
ReplyDeleteIts always good to go home. I also went home this last weekend and it was great to see everyone but by the end of the time at home I was anxious to get back to BSU and be with all the guys. Its amazing here!
ReplyDeleteI definately feel at home here at ball state, but I dont feel like calling my little teensy dorm room and the showers that I am two feet too tall for my home. To me, home is where your family is. The word home seems like it should describe a place thats comfortable,.. like.. i dont know. If you were to say youre going home, its different than saying youre going to your house. I feel like my dorm is my house, not my home. My English teacher senior year told me to never call college home in front of our mom. I sort of agree with that. I dont think that my mom would like to hear me call my dorm home.
ReplyDeleteDont get me wrong, I love being here at ball state. I have met so many cool people and already made some awesome friends. And maybe the longer I am here, the more at home i will feel.
I caught myself calling home my dorm. I love it here so much and it has just become a habit to say im going back home. It is so weird, and i didnt think i would ever get to that point. Im sure by the end of the year you will also call this place home. =) im glad you had a good time back at the real "home" though.
