I have never had an opportunity to meet a famous author to a book I have read, so Tuesday evening was a real treat for me. It was very exciting for me to be able to see the man who wrote the book I previously read. It was a true story about his life, so it made an image in my head over everything I read happened to the man before me. Then, to top it all off, he had an amazing story he told and wanted to share even more of his life stories with us.
Ishmael was a wonderful speaker who began with his life before the book. He told us about how he got into rap and such and described a few events more in detail. He was very funny and I laughed a lot during his presentation. I didn’t personally go up and ask a question, but some of the questions asked were really interesting. One of them was: “What was the hardest part of writing the book?” His response was something about reliving all of the memories, but the worst was probably remembering his life before the war, and knowing that it was all gone. I’m really glad that I went to the speaking and I would love to go to another one if the chance arises.

Ishmael was amazing on Tuesday night! I also liked all the stories he told about his life before, during, and after he left the war. It is crazy how a person can go through all of that and come out in a pretty good life in the end. I liked how you described briefly about the beginning of the speech and the end of the speech. You made a really good blog.
ReplyDeleteHe was a great speaker I really enjoyed listening to him speak it made me realize how truelly blessed I have been in my life. I could never imaging being a shoulder at the young age like he was it is incredible to hear what he went through and I truelly appreciate my parents and my life more than I did before Ishmeal Beah came and spoke.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed Ishmael Beah as well. I thought he was a fantastic speaker. It felt even more real to hear it from the man who wrote the book. I Felt that it had more of an affect on me as to the message of the book. He really lived all of that, and even though there are skeptics, i still believe that he really went through traumatic things like that. I really enjoyed the book as well, so when he did read it, i felt like i were in his shoes, listening to him stand right beside me as the things he described happened.
