where to start
Am I the only one who is really worried about this paper we have to write? Even the title of the assignment worries me? An analysis and synthesis paper. I think my biggest struggle right now is trying to find a song that I will be able to relate to the book and write a 4-6 page paper on it. I have picked out about three different songs and each time I feel like I’m closer, but when I think and try to actually connect it and analyze it, I feel like I am doing it all wrong. The thesis, both of them, but I’m not sure how to write that plural, is also a thing I’m stumbling over, because I don’t know whether I should include the second part of the paper in my first thesis or vice versa, and I am also very confused on how I combine the two topics. Transitions are not my strong point, so I’m just a mess about this paper. I hope I am not the only one who is staring at a completely blank page as I wonder about where to start. Any suggestions?

Ha I wish I could offer a suggestion but I'm just as confused as you are. For one I'm not sure how my song relates to the book in a way thats not obvious. I'm also confused on what to do about our thesis.
ReplyDeleteTry picking a song by and older, lesser known, or underground band. Those kinds of band tend to write deeper lyrics. Some of them can be political too.
ReplyDeleteYeah I am having the same problem, I am not exactly sure if this is going to turn out that great lol. I'm going to have to agree with Tyler though on picking an older band or lesser known group. It could help out a lot
ReplyDeleteI totally understand you. I am a little confused on what to talk about and how the thesis will work with the whole paper. I am just going to cross my fingers and go for it. If you need help you could always go to the writing center. I went to the North Quad for the first paper and they were really helpful. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteYeah I have picked my song but I am not sure how to start or what to talk about. I think Mrs. Dighton will go over the paper again hopefully. A lot of people are having trouble getting started. Good Luck
ReplyDeletehaha! I have no idea what song I am going to do. None of the songs I pick seem to fit this paper well. I am in just as a rut as you are. This is awful =( Good luck on your paper.

ReplyDeleteI'm just as stressed as you are sister... I found the perfect song, but my comfidence shot down from receiving the grade on my last paper. Hopefully all ends well and we will both get A's.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly how you feel. I keep trying to go through songs, and ill pick one and then realize (after looking at the lyrics) that it wont work. Im really worried about this paper. Im glad that the first due date is for the rough draft. Im going to need comments on paper for sure. Im going to end up changing a lot about my paper. Im still not sure the song i picked is good enough! AH! Writing papers is my least favorite homework assignment.
ReplyDeleteOh i know exactly how you feel. I felt the same exact way when writing it. Even after today in class and the peer reviews, i still think i might be a little confused with my whole paper! I had trouble trying to focus it all together, i feel like it seems like were writing two totally different papers. Hopefully it all turns out and with the peer reviews im sure it will help. I am going to the writing center this week so hopefully that works out! You should totally go there too!
