My mom came by on Wednesday, yesterday, to visit and take my roommate and I out to dinner. My roommate had practice so it ended up just being my mom, sister, brother and I, but it was still fun. I carried my baby brother, who is almost nine months old, around while they were in the building and I wish you would have seen the looks I was receiving. I needed a sign to put on him saying little brother I think. : ) then, when we went out I go the exact same looks. We went to pizza hut, where we got stuffed crust pizza my favorite, but the baby was dead asleep in the booth next to me. The man who waited on us asked if he was mine and all I could do was laugh. I am over eighteen years older than my younger brother, a little different I know. I can’t wait until he is older and I can spoil him to death, just like I do my little sisters who are eleven and seven. I love my family and no matter how funny we may look I love our age differences.

I would find it kind of rude if people thought that that was my child. Frankly, it is not any of their business as to if it is your child or not. Along with this topic, I do think that teen pregnancy is becoming a huge problem. I can personally say that some people that I know have been pregnant, and they were only in high school. I just can't even imagine being pregnant and having to deal with that at such a young age.
ReplyDeleteI've had the same thing happen to me with my younger cousin. I've also been mistaken for my 13 year old sister, embarrassing I know. I agree with Morgan it's really nobodys business so what if it was your kid. Twenty years ago it was completely acceptable to have a kid at age eighteen. Now all of a sudden its a social stigma to have a kid at our age. Not saying I support teen pregnancy I just think the judgement people pass about it is unfair.
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny! It is very understandable thought about people judging you and assuming things right away. That has happened to me quite a few times with all my baby cousins. I am so jealous that you have baby brothers and sisters. I have always wanted either one. I bet it feels awesome seeing them after you havent forever, I know thats how it is at least every time i see my family. At least the guy at pizza hut had the nerve to ask if he was your baby! Most people dont even ask and just assume things all the time.
ReplyDeleteI have had this happen to me several time when I take the little boys I nanny out places and when my nieces come to visit. My one of my nieces it would make more sense because she is only 3 and looks a lot like me, but the boys I nanny are 7,5, and 3 and look nothing like me. I usually find it annoying, but entertaining at the same time so I know how you feel. I wish I had siblings that were a lot younger than me, but I am the youngest.
ReplyDeletehaha that's always a fun way to be out. I've never experienced it but I can assume what you see in people's eyes. You see the "oh my god she has a kid?!" look but then you get to laugh at their ignorance so that's always a good time.
ReplyDeleteGirl, Youre preaching to the choir lol
ReplyDeleteIm about to be 19 in December and my little sister is five and when we go out either by myself or with my mother around people automatically assume that she is mine. And in the beginning I would be SUPER pissed and irritated because not every teen is a statistic and is out here getting pregnant but I eventually got over it. Some people come to me and say "Aww she's so cute, or is she yours" and I of course say no this is my little sister and then they all proceed to say "Well she looks just like you!" Yeah you think...DUH she's my sister we have the same mother and father you idiot...lol
But I spoil her like she's mine so hey its whatever. She's gotten me out of alot of ugly dudes trying to talk to me though. lol
